The MEL Program presents four bootcamps beginning in March that can be taken individually or as a certificate. Bootcamp topics were specifically chosen to help Museum Education Directors build capacity to lead at the enterprise level.
About the Bootcamps:
Sensemaking & the Strategic Mindset:
As museum education directors, it is critical that you not only understand the industry environment, but also the broader context of the world in which your audiences operate. This understanding will drive you to develop programs that are more meaningful, more engaging, and therefore, more valuable to your institution and your audiences. Using Design Thinking principles and Sensemaking, you will document the environmental context in which your organization operates and the implications on your audiences and programs.
Financial Analysis and Decision Making
While education directors are fluent in budgeting and maintaining a balanced budget for your span of responsibility, this course will elevate your skillset and help you to think of new projects and initiatives in terms of the financial impact on the organization. This course will lay the foundation for confident financial decision-making and give participants a firm grounding in financial analysis.
Leading Change Initiatives
Change is about moving forward, evolution, and creating a sound pathway for individuals to implement and sustain new ways of working, engaging, and executing on the mission of the institution or the needs of its stakeholders. In this course, you will be exposed to frameworks, models and strategies that will help you better understand the role of the change agent. You will become familiar with the concepts of innovation, urgency, relevance, and enterprise-wide implementation. You will be presented with tools and frameworks to support the development and implementation of change initiatives, common mistakes, and executive leadership strategies needed to support enterprise-wide change.

Communicating Your Value
In this course, you will learn not only how to articulate vision and meaning, but how to use language to influence action. You will learn how to manage perceptions and shape how others hear what you have to say. This course will provide you the opportunity to reframe an existing or new initiative in a way that will communicate the initiative’s value for the organization beyond your department. Elevate your executive presence to manage enterprise-level challenges with internal and external stakeholders.
